The seas and oceans accumulate large amounts of solar energy in the forms of ocean waves, ocean streams and thermal energy. In addition the seas and oceans contain kinetic energy caused by tidal changes. Utilisation of these forms of energy can contribute to stabilisation of the global climate, reduce pollution, and provide additional energy that can enable people all over the world to produce more food, products and services.
Possible use of sea and ocean energy include generation of electricity, supply of energy to seafood and aquaculture plants, production of fresh water from seawater, removal of pollution from seawater and production of hydrogen.
